NAPIER – Pakistani wicket keeper Sarfraz Ahmed will finally play his first match of Cricket World Cup 2015, Pakistantribe.com reported.
Sarfraz Ahmed is specialist wicket keeper and also a good batsman. He also opens the match for Pakistan team. But in the first matches of world cup he was ignored by the Pakistan team management and captain Misbah ul Haq.
Umar Akmal played the role of wicket keeper in the mega event but fails to give excellent performance. he dropped the few catches.
Pakistan media and former cricketers also criticized Misbah for not giving the chance to inform Sarfraz Ahmed.
Earlier, Misbah said that “We badly want to play Sarfraz but we are in deep trouble,” Misbah said. “Our batting is struggling and if we put seven batsmen then we are one bowler short, so that’s the kind of problem we are facing. The only thing we can do is that Sarfraz can open, but considering that he opened in a few practice games and it is a bit different from Asian conditions to open in Australia and New Zealand, this is also a difficult decision for us. Let’s see in future, maybe we have to do it.
Sarfaraz Ahmed is a Pakistani cricketer who captained Pakistan to victory at the Under 19 World Cup in 2006. He is a wicket-keeper and a right-handed batsman.
He had played just 5 games for the Pakistan Under 19 cricket team before being selected as captain for the Under 19 Cricket World Cup. He plays first class cricket for Karachi.
