4 police officials killed in Peshawar Blast targeted BDS vehicle | PakistanTribePESHAWAR – At least four members of Bomb Disposal Squad embraced martyrdom with one seriously injured when their van was targeted with a remote-control bomb in Badaber area of Peshawar.

The explosive material was planted roadside, the police said.

According to police, the personnel of bomb disposal squad were on their way to Suleman Khel when a blast went off, killing four policemen while injuring one other. The injured was taken to Lady Leading Hospital. The dead have been identified as Abdul Haq, Imtiaz and driver Kashif.

Another bomb, planted in the same area of Sheikh Muhammadi was successfully defused by the bomb disposal squad.

Two people, including BDU official Aminul Haq and a pedestrian, were injured in the explosion.

The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where Aminul Haq succumbed to his injuries.

Shafqat Malik, bomb disposal chief of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, praised Haq as one of his best and most professional operatives.

“We are losing our best officers. More than 10 officers of BDS (bomb disposal squad) have lost their lives while serving their motherland,” Malik said. He said that robots are used for diffusing the bombs, adding that he could not provide more details about the use of robots.
He said over 10 personnel of BDS have been martyred during the service of masses, adding that the remaining would continue serving the masses without fear of death.

Haq was made bomb disposal chief for Peshawar after his predecessor Hukam Khan was killed while defusing two bombs in the same area in September 2012.

Police and other security personnel have cordoned off the Sheikh Mohammadi area and another bomb, containing four kilograms of explosive materials, was defused after a search operation that identified it went underway.
