GILGIT – District Jail Gilgit was broken by four prisoners early morning on Friday one of them killed by security forces’ firing second sustained injuries however rest of two succeeded to escape, PakistanTribe received reports.
According to details, four prisoners attempted to break the district jail out of which one was killed by security forces’ firing however two prisoners escaped.
The escaped prisoners were involved in ‘Nanga Parbat’ attack. In June 2013, 11 mountaineers including 10 foreigners were killed in Nanga Parbat.
Police and intelligence agencies have started search operation in the area to trace the escaped ones.
Following the tragedy, authorities have suspended the concerned official, including Jail superintendent and warden Jail.
Interior Secretary Gilgit Baltistan, Subtain Ahmad, announced Rs2 million for helping in arrest of prisoners. Secretory further announced that the jail was broken around 2am at night.
The killed prisoner was identified as Bilal whereas the prisoner Dilbar, who had sustained serious injuries was shifted to hospital however the central accused of Nanga Parbat attack Habiburahman along with his companion Liaqat escaped.
Later in the morning, reports were received about the fire exchange between Police and some armed persons. It was expected that the armed person were those escaped prisoners.
Police and intelligence agencies have surrounded the area and trying to arrest the accused.
