PESHAWAR/ISLAMABAD – Authorities suspended the in-charge of Hayatabad NADRA center and 4 other people for issuing illegally a CNIC to National Geo-graphics’ famous Afghan girl Sharbat Bibi and her two sons, PakistanTribe reported.
Hayatabad National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) center In-charge Palvisha Afridi and her team was suspended following this negligence.
Earlier during the day, the agency had also cancelled CNICs of both the Afghan woman and her two sons, Rauf Khan and Wali Khan.
The address registered on Bibi’s CNIC was reportedly incorrect, while the documents submitted were also fake. A meeting was also held by the agency’s top officials in this regard.
A local media outlet reported the event that “high-ups in the authority issued three CNICs on a single day last year to the 46-year-old Sharbat Bibi, wife of Rehmat Gul, and her two sons in violation of rules and regulations.”
It is pertinent to mention that Sharbat Bibi gained global recognition when her face was featured on National GeographicMagazine’s cover in 1985. She was only 12 years old then and her photo was likened with Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
Televised reports received to PakistanTribe that in North Waziristan, more than 2,000 people were issued fake CNICs of Pakistan. “Rs35,000 were paid to NADRA official per card,” sources said.
