ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday chairs a meeting in Islamabad to see the Energy situation in Pakistan as Pakistan’s second biggest problem, after terrorism, is believed as Energy.
The cabinet meeting was arranged with a special focus on Pak-China economic corridor and growing need of energy in the country.
In the meeting an approval from the cabinet on the Pak-China economic corridor was the agenda as proceedings for the project have already commenced without approval. This meeting is the first time the cabinet is being briefed on the Pak-China economic corridor.
The cabinet was also scheduled to be briefed on the country’s energy situation. It is expected to give approvals on an agreement for a discounted loan from China for the Karachi Nuclear Power Projects I and II as well as okay loans from Japan in order to carry out energy reforms.
Pakistan is now a days considering Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-Iran (TAPI) to fulfill its energy needs however another project Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) is also in pipeline.
Government will have to face a serious criticism in summer as they are not ready to overcome the load shedding.
