Kristen Stewart Becomes The First American Actress To Win A César Award

AFI FEST 2014 Presented By Audi Special Screening Of "Still Alice" - Red Carpet

Kristen Stewart just became the first actress from America to bag a César Award.

César Award is a national film award of France and is considered to be the French equivalent of the American Academy Award.

The 24 year old actress won the prestigious award for “Best Supporting Actress” for her character in the movie “Clouds Of Sils Maria”, which was released on 20th August, 2014.

According to BBC, in her acceptance speech the talented actress shouted “I love you Juliette” in French, referring to her female co-star from the movie, Juliette Binoche.

Later on while talking to Variety, Stewart also admired the French filmmakers and said:

“The reasons why people make films here in France are very different from the reasons why people make movies in Hollywood and I prefer it here a little bit,”

It was definitely a historic and unforgettable win for the “Twilight” star since for the first time in over thirty years, an American actress had been nominated. The last one being Opera singer Julia Migenes who got the nomination for her character in “Carmen” (1984).

While, the last American actor to bag a César award was Adrien Brody for his role in “The Pianist” (2002).
