KARACHI – ‘Already Solved’ Baldia town carnage case still needs more investigation as PM Nawaz last week during his visit to Karachi had asked for more briefing on the case and now MQM chief Altaf Hussain appeals Army chief for immediate and fair trial of Baldia fire.

He, on Saturday, appealed Army Chief for fair  investigation of Baldia town factory carnage in which 259 people had burnt. He also demands for open and public punishment for the responsible.

“A special chowk (roundabout) should be formed where those responsible for the fire should be hanged,” Altaf further said.

The open and clear case is getting complex as Special prosecutor Shazia Hanjra had separated herself from the case and sent a written notification in this regard to the Sindh government on Monday.

Shazia Hanjra had informed media that she has submitted her resignation to the Ministry of Law. A private practicing lawyer, Hanjra was appointed special public prosecutor for the Baldia Town factory fire case on behalf of the state.

Hanjra said investigating authorities had not been cooperating with her and that Investigating Officer (IO) Sub-Inspector Jehanzeb had given a no objection certificate to the factory owners’ bail application.

She added that the IO had still not given her a copy of investigation documents. Shazia Hanjra said the Baldia town factory case is an international case and after two years he comes to know that there are 950 witnesses in the case.
