After enthralling Karachiites, The Literature Festival is now going to start in Lahore and continue for three days.
This is going to be the third literature festival which the residents of the “Mughal City of Gardens” will witness. The festival which is open for general public and is free of cost is all set to take place on 20th, 21st and 22nd February at the Alhamra Arts Center in Lahore.
The city’s largest and most loved cultural and literary event is taking place in a time when Lahore has been recently hit by a terrorist attack. However, such attacks are expected not to dishearten the Zinda Dilaan-e Lahore. It was estimated that around fifty thousand people attended the LLF last year.
Like the previously held two festivals, this year again the visitors will get to attend and witness some of the best sessions. And of course there will be book launches and book signings as well.
The festival is set to feature more than one hundred world renowned national and international literary dignitaries such as Romila Thapar, Intizar Husain, Aitzaz Ahsan, Shobhaa De, M. Asaduddin, I. A. Rehman, Romesh Gunesekera, Mohsin Hamid, Ahmed Rashid, Deborah Baker, Abdullah Hussein, Farida Khanum, Noorjehan Bilgrami, Naresh Fernandes, Roger Cohen, Laila Bokhari among many others. The closing day will witness a performance by Eve Ensler with the Rafi Peer Sufi Music Ensemble.
Apart from the aforementioned performance, there are other musical shows too, on day 1, 20th February, 2015, the visitors will get a chance to witness one of Pakistan’s very popular underground indie-art rock bands, “Poor Rich Boy”.
Although most of the sessions of the LLF will be conducted in English, the visitors however will also have the option to attend sessions that will be held in Urdu, Seraiki and Punjabi.
The visitors are also encouraged to use the official hashtag of the Lahore Literary Festival which is “#LLF2015” while they are sharing their experiences on the social media websites.
