CHRISTURCH – New Zealand first pool match by 98 runs against Sri Lanka in the fits pool match of Cricket World Cup 2015.

Sri Lankan team in chase of 332 runs all out for just 233 runs in 46.1 overs. Thirimanne scored 65 runs and Methews played the knock of 46 runs.

Southee, Boult and Vittori took two wickets each.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first and give the chance to Kiwis batmen to bat first on the flat batting track.

McCullum and Guptill opened the innings and complete partnership of 111 runs. McCullum lost his wicket after scoring 65 runs in just 49 balls. Guptill left the pitch on 49, one short from his fifty of this mega event.

Wiliamsons scored inning of 57 runs. New Land team manage to put 331 runs on the score board with lost six wickets.

Lakmal and Mendis took two wickets each.
