PESHAWAR – A group of foreign investors of Japan, Korea and Saudi Arabia having expertise in City Development, Housing and Mineral Development investments led by Saudi Sheikh Dr. Ahmed S. Al-Zubeidi, Chairman Tharawat Capital, called on the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak in Peshawar on Thursday afternoon and expressed interest in large scale investment in the province in the concerned sectors.
The group specially offered investment in the new housing plan of K-P govt namely Nowshera Motorway Mega City near Col. Sher Khan Interchange.
The Chief Minister welcomed the offer and said that the provincial govt has eliminated the curses of corruption and red tap-ism in the govt machinery prevalent in the past. He said that no stone was being left unturned by the present PTI led provincial govt to create congenial atmosphere for investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while supremacy of law, justice and merit was being ensured in all sectors of life. The provincial assembly speaker Haji Asad Qaiser, Provincial Chief Secretary Muhammad Shehzad Arbab, CM’s Advisor on Mineral Development Ziaullah Afridi, Advisor on Housing Amjad Afridi, Advisor on Economics Rafaqatullah Baber, Advisor on Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani, Parliamentary Secretary Planning & Development Mian Khaleequrrehman, Chairman DDAC Peshawar Ishtiaq Urmar and other concerned authorities were also present during the meeting.
On this occasion Secretary Housing Engr. Zahid Arif briefed the group on Nowshera Motorway Mega City Project saying that this big city has been proposed at 10 thousand acre land at border area of Nowshera and Swabi along the Peshawar Islamabad Motorway wherein section-4 has already been enforced. He said that a major chunk of 30 thousand Kanals of the project area has been separately allocated for education city as per directives of the Chief Minister.
A network of universities, colleges, schools and technical training institutions would be established in this education city and endeavour would be made to make it attractive in education and research sectors for students and scholars all over the world especially for the neighboring countries.
Similarly Health City Plan would also be launched down town in the project comprising teaching hospitals, medical and research health centers to cater all kinds of health and treatment needs while commercial estate would also be established on other side of the mega city. The city would be safe from earthquakes and floods due to its location on moderate seismic zone.
All civic and recreation facilities would be made available in the city including vast golf course, theme park, sports stadium, zoo and Dubai pattern three, four, five star hotels and high-rise commercial buildings and apartments. The city would have its own hydel power station with cheap and uninterrupted electricity due to vicinity with Pehur high level canal and Kabul river. Similarly Secretary Mineral Development Mian Waheedudin highlighted the avenues of exploration and exploitation of precious mineral resources available in various parts of the province wherein the investors group showed keen interest in it by promising that the group along with other members would again visit this province in the fortnight following the consent of the Chief Minister and would thus lay the base for public private partnership in these sectors.
Pervez Khattak while talking to the group members said that the provincial govt was quite ready to provide all needed incentives and guarantees to the foreign investors including tax evasions in all sectors including housing and mineral development and the mega city in particular.
He said that the foreign investors would then never see any malpractice and mismanagement in the province like that in the past regimes and everything would go in streamlined and transparent manner as per law and rules. He said that the investors and entrepreneurs would get all facilities under one window operation and no one would be bothered without reason. He said that our govt believed in good governance rather than hallow slogans and lip service to the people.
Khattak said that we wanted to honour our promises in letter and spirit to make this province a model for the whole country and the world at large while we would emerge as successful for sure in this mission due to our sincerity to the purpose, he concluded. Earlier the investors group visited the proposed site of Nowshera Motorway Mega City near Col Sher Interchange and termed it most feasible place for urban development and commercial needs.
