National Bank Wins First Chief of the Army Staff Challenge Hockey Cup 2015 | PakistanTribe.com

RAWALPINDI – National Bank’s hockey team beat PIA in the final of First Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Challenge Hockey Cup 2015, PakistanTribe.com reported.

National Bank beat PIA in final by 2-0. Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif also present at the stadium as a chief guest.

Raheel Sharif presented the the trophy and medals to the players.

Olympian Imran Butt declared as best goalkeeper of tournament.

The winner of the championship will earn Rs1 million, runners up will earn Rs700,000. It is the first time in the history of Pakistan domestic hockey that such a huge cash awards are being on the offer and the event carries a total of Rs2.5 million in cash and other awards.

Eaelier, with the help superb performance by skipper M Imran, Pakistan Army thrashed Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) 3-0 in the third position play-off match of the First Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Challenge Hockey Cup 2015, played here at the Army Hockey Stadium Saturday.
Army had proved a point in the event and despite having services of only one international star Imran, Army had played the entire event on a very high note and managed to win plaudits.

The PHF secretary and chief selector had already indicated that a number of fresh players were detected during the event and entire credit for this goes to Army for organising the championship.

Top National Level teams of Army, Navy, PAF, Police, WAPDA, NBP, PIA, SSGC and Punjab participated in the10 day long championship.

Army’s Imran is the leading goal-scorer of the tournament with eight goals and one of the front-runners to win the top goal-scorer award. Army, by finishing third, pocketed Rs500,000 cash award.
