KARACHI – Police and Rangers arrested two members of outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a joint raid conducted in Sohrab Goth’s Janjal Goth areas of Karachi earlier on Monday.
Police and Rangers arrested two people in different areas of Karachi who are member of banned outlawed movement TTP. The militants who are identified as Azeem Mehsud and Munawwar Mehsud. belonged to a 50-member gang which was involved in terror activities and collecting funds for the TTP.
Sohrab Goth DSP Qamar Ahmed confirmed their arrest and their affiliation with TTP.
He further said that Azeem Mehsud is the father of Dawood Mehsud who was the Karachi chief of the TTP and the personal guard of ex-TTP supremo Hakimullah Mehsud.
Talking about their crimes DSP said that these were involved in several incidents including terrorism, target killings and attacks on Rangers and police personnel, including the Sept 2011 attack on the residence of slain SSP Chaudhry Aslam.
DSP Qamar Ahmed also claimed that looted cash, arms and ammunition were also recovered from the arrested men.
TTP members in Karachi are involve in bank robbery, kidnapping for ransom and smuggling. TTP has spread its network all around the country to generate revenue.
