BUNER – Khyber Pukhtunkhwa’s district Buner teachers have refused carrying weapons in schools and said that it is the job of the state to provide security to school staffs and its students.The decision has been taken in meeting of All Primary Teachers Association (APTA) in Government High School of ‘Sawari’ Buner.
President of the Association Akbar Ali Bacha, Chairman Meraj Ali Shah and General Secretary attended the meeting.
It was told in meeting that, teachers are not in favor of the recent decision for security. They said that, the job of a teacher was not to provide security; teacher’s job was to teach students.
It is pertinent to mention that after the attack of Army Public School Peshawar on 16th December 2013 in which 142 Children were harshly killed by militants including nine teachers, KPK empowers teachers to carry the weapon.
On the other side members of the meeting have announced that Polio campaign will not be run in the district.
They decided to meet with the District Education Minister on Wednesday to demand increase in salaries.
