KARACHI – Police forcefully stopped the protesters of ‘Islami Jamiat Talaba’, a student organization, who were trying to get into the French Counsulate in Karachi.
Islami Jamiat Talaba arranged a rally in Karachi to protest against the French government as it did not took strict notice against Charlie Hebdo, a magazine which published anti-Islamic sketches.
Earlier the ralley was peaceful but with the passage of time the situation got tense and violent.
Police tried to negotiate with Islami Jamiat Talaba to calm them but the aggressive IJT workers got violent as they were angry on French government.
Police later shelled the ‘tear gas’ and rubber bullets to disperse them but it was of no use. Also the water canon was used to disperse the protesters.
The situation was not in favor of Police as police force was not much in number to defend the French consulate.
Security of Consulate have been handed over to Rangers as the situation was becoming tense every passing moment.
It was also reported that a photographer of private TV channel was shot who has been shifted to hospital but his situation was told critical.
