ISLAMABAD/WASHINGTON DC – US concern over Afghanistan can be seen as US hands over its leftover functional weapons used in Afghan war to Pakistan, PakistanTribe received international media reports.
According to sources the United States Army has handed over its weapon which were functional to Pakistan. These weapons were in use of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops in Afghanistan for the last couple of years.
Sources told that “A complete list of all the reusable military equipment was provided to Pakistan, from which whatever was deemed necessary and was required by the armed forces was selected by the defence ministry. Pentagon was accordingly informed about it.”
Further it was added “However, a major chunk of the military equipment that includes sophisticated weapons is being moved to Jordan.”
It is pertinent to mention that in the end of 2014 the US President Barack Obama had said that US will withdraw its troops from Afghanistan in the first week of January 2015 as, he believes that, Afghanistan in safer now and there is no chance for any terrorist activity.
He had highlighted the engagement of US in other parts of the globe saying that “US have other missions in the world also including Iraq and still US to some how engaged in Afghanistan.”
He, then, said about the rehabilitation in Afghanistan that Afghanistan is now at the stage that it can rehabilitate itself.
Analysts believe that it is US’ promise for cooperation with Afghanistan and its strategic ally Pakistan.
