KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Bodies, Sharjeel Inam Memon revealed that as many as 3000 cases of target killing and extortion are still pending in Sindh.
Talking to media persons following the meeting of Action Plan Committee, Sharjeel Memon said the mechanism of the plan was reviewed during the meeting.
He said 14 points of the Action Plan fall in the purview of the provincial government, adding. He, however, said that a province would forward recommendations to the federal govt which will then decide as to which cases are to be referred to the trial courts.
Memon said as many as 3000 cases of target killing and extortion are still pending in Sindh.
He said the objective of the 21st constitutional amendment is to stamp out the scourge of terrorism from the country. “We want a permanent end to this menace,” he added.
The provincial Information Minister said the terrorists who had executed the attacks on Benazir Bhutto and on Karachi airport also fall in the jurisdiction of trial courts.
He said a total of 270 private security companies were functioning in Sindh and manpower of 60000 heads was associated with these companies.
Sharjeel Memon said a counter-terrorism force will be raised in Sindh for which 1000 men will be inducted.
