ISLAMABAD – Misbah-ul Haq will lead the Pakistan side for the first time in the ICC World Cup 2015, PakistanTribe received reports.

Misbah-ul-Haq, 40, middle order batsman, who has played 75 ODIs (One Day International) will lead the Pakistan Team for the first time in World Cup.

Misbah Ul Haq is the most successful captain in the history of Pakistan who will going to lead team has just recovered from injury.

Talking about his selection the chief selector Moin Khan said that “Misbah Ul Haq has recovered from a hamstring injury he sustained last month while playing against New Zealand in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and would lead the team in the Feb. 14-March 29 tournament in Australia and New Zealand.”

Pakistan, placed in Group B, will open its campaign with a highly-charged clash against arch-rivals and defending champions India.

Moin said the team was selected after consultation with Misbah and coach Waqar Younis.

“We selected the squad after thorough consultation… and although no one can give assurances of results, we are hopeful that the team will do well,” said Moin Khan.

Paceman Sohail Khan was a surprise inclusion after he took ten wickets in three games in a domestic match in Karachi.

Thirty-year-old fast bowler  who played his last one-day international in Zimbabwe in 2011, was picked besides batsman Shoaib Maqsood and pacers Junaid Khan and Ehsan Adil. The last three players were not part of the squad that toured New Zealand last month because of injuries but have now recovered.

Misbah-ul Haq (captain), Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfraz Ahmed, Younis Khan, Haris Sohail, Umar Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Shahid Afridi, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan, Ehsan Adil, Sohail Khan, Wahab Riaz.
