Meanwhile, all is set to train the teachers of primary schools so that they are enabled to teach the children through the medium of English from class-I, and thus bring the public sector schools on a par with those in the private sector.

The said IMU will consist of 485 trained personnel and will not only improve the functioning of the education institutions but the reliable date so constantly collected helpful for realistic planning in future.

Arrangements for these and many other reforms in the education department were thoroughly discussed in the meeting of the working group on education which was held in the Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad under the chairmanship of Secretary Education Abdul Latif on Monday.

Besides others, representatives of EU, USAid, GIZ, Ausaid and of course the KP education department participated.

Senior educationist Jamaluddin briefed the meeting regarding the scheme for training of PTCs while the representatives of a private consultants group Abacus briefed the participants about their experience in Punjab.

On this occasion it transpired that while in Punjab the campaign against corporal punishment is limited to persuasion in KP, it has been made a violation of disciplinary and such action is taken against those found guilty.
