ISLAMABAD – Aitzaz Ahsan said that Military courts will work as per constitutional act of 244/245 which allows Pakistan Army to play its role to defend the country.
Senator Aitzaz Ahsan was taking to media and said that there is no need for amending the constitution of Pakistan of 1973 for establishing of military courts as constitution allows government to utilize the Pakistan Military for defence of state when country is in state of war.
He said that as it is a state of war for Pakistan so the constitutional immunity may be availed to increase the authorities of court martial.
He added that it is the subject matter of defense situation of Pakistan as Pakistan Army’s prime responsibility is to safeguard Pakistan externally and to assist government internally in case of insurgency and Pakistan is in state of war.
He ensured that the constitution is safe and there is no need to amend in constitution for establishing of military courts.
Talking about the recent insurgency in the state and responsibility of government at this stage he said that this is the time to do whatever we can do to ensure the security.
He hoped that all parties will agree on the establishment of military courts shortly.
