KARACHI – Sindh Home Department has banned pillion riding in the metropolis for December 31 to ensure law and order on the occasion of New Year eve.
Home Secretary Niaz Abbasi said that on the night of New Year there would be ban on pillion riding for one night right from the evening of December 31 to the morning of January 1, 2015. “Those who would ride bikes by opening their silencers would be arrested fort with.”
The request to Sindh Home Department for ban on pillion riding was forwarded by Karachi police.
Moreover, Inspector General of Police Ghulam Hyder Jamali said that over 7000 policemen would be deployed in the city.
“We have decided to close completely the road leading to Sea view.,” he said and added that entrance and exit ways would be given from Clifton and Darakhshan areas for which administrator of DHA, Cantonments and KMC administration have already been informed..
Furthermore celebratory gunfire, fireworks, and displaying weapons are also forbidden by the law until the dawn on January 1, 2015.
