MUMBAI – As per Twitter trends of 2014, Aamir Khan’s Twitter followers grew at a rampant rate of 40% and Amir Khan actor currently has a Twitter following of 10.4 million.

The two seasons of his reality show Satyamev Jayate and the controversy around PK’s poster and now the film, made people come out more actively in support of the star. Interestingly, Aamir’s Twitter handle @aamir_khan had 9.9 million at the beginning of December and recorded a very sharp growth this month.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Twitter handle @iamsrk grew rampantly at 36% and his Twitter followers currently rest at 10.7 million. Following his birthday and then the 1000 week celebrations of his cult film Dilwale Dulhania le Jayenge, SRK’s Twitter account recorded maximum followers during that spell.

Salman Khan’s Twitter handle @beingSalmanKhan has 9.85 Million twitter followers currently and grew at 34.5% as per latest reports.

The other celebrities who recorded high Twitter growth in 2014 were Amitabh Bachchan whose Twitter handle @SrBachchan grew at a little over 32%.

Among the leading ladies, it was Deepika’s Twitter handle @deepikapadukone which recorded the highest growth of 36.50% and now has 8.76 million followers on the micro blogging site. Following her in growth was Priyanka Chopra whose active Twitter handle grew at 30% and now has 8.22 million followers. Hrithik Roshan’s Twitter handle @iHrithik grew at a little more than 32% and now has 7.92 million Twitter followers.

But reigning everyone this year was Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose Twitter account saw the highest follower growth of 55%. His twitter handle @narendramodi now has 9.06 million followers and is India’s highest growing Twitter account, reported our sources.
