KARACHI – Police has imposed ban on pillion riding in Karachi from today to 1st January in order to control the law and order situation in the city, PakistanTribe learnt from media reports.
Karachi police have imposed ban on pillion riding on the concussion of New Year. Police sources said that no one will be released if found violating the rule. Further Police said that riding on motorbike without silencer will also be not allowed.
Police added that anyone who found riding motorbike without silencer will be treated strictly as per law. Summary presented to the ministry by police has not yet approved but ministry will approve because of law and order situation.
Earlier Sindh government had imposed ban on pillion riding in four major cities of the province on the occasion of Hazarat Imam Hussain (RA’s) Chehlum.
Additional Chief Secretary of Sindh Home Department chaired a meeting to review security plan for the event. Commissioner Karachi, Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) and Rangers officials attended that meeting.
According to plan, pillion riding was banned in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Khairpur on December 23 and 24.
This recent ban is also the subject matter of security issues and police has imposed ban on pillion riding.
