MUMBAI – : Rajkumar Hirani’s latest directorial venture ‘PK‘ became first Bollywood movie to cross 1000 million hurdle in just four days.
Rajkumar Hirani’s latest directorial venture PK has minted about Rs 1135 million in four days in India. The film had generated a rush at the box-office, which was evident from its opening day collections.
The weekend collections were also impressive and it has now crossed the coveted Rs 1000 million mark.
An elated Anushka tweeted, “I am literally in tears reading the overwhelming love & response you guys have shown for PK & us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Let’s take a look at other films that not only crossed the 100 crore hurdle, but also raced ahead of others to make the fastest Rs 100 crore.
On the other hand Shah Rukh Khan’s Diwali release Happy New Year joined the bandwagon of fastest 100 crore movies of Bollywood. According to a report , HNY collected approximately Rs 826.7 million till early Saturday. And according to a Red Chillies press note, the film managed to touch the coveted 1000 million mark over the weekend, grossing Rs 1000 million, with a break up of Rs 1041 millionin Hindi, Rs 2.92 crore in Telugu and Rs. 18.4 million in Tamil.
These impressive statistics might get the film a place in the league of recent big releases like Bang Bang and Kick.Happy New Year is produced by SRK’s Red Chillies and directed by Farah Khan, starring an ensemble cast of Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah.
