NEW DELHI – Modi government has taken U turn on its Palestine policy by giving vote against Palestine in United Nations, PakistanTribe received international media reports.
According to a government source of India “Like other foreign policy issues, the Modi government is looking at India’s voting record at the United Nations on the Palestinian issue.”
The change only needs an administrative nod, the second source said.
India is one of most prominent members among nonaligned nations that have traditionally supported the Palestinians at the United Nations for decades.
India and Israel has established their diplomatic relations in 1992. Since then Israel and India have a close strategic relationship, especially in the fields of security, intelligence and the war on terror.
India is one of the main clients of Israel’s defense industries but it was successfully driving its relations with Israel even after voting against Israel.
After the May election in India Modi was appointed as Prime Minister and it was expected that Indi will now change its policy towards Israel as Modi is Pro-Israel politician
Indian relations with Israel have warmed considerably since Modi rose to power. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was one of the first world leaders to call Modi to congratulate him on his victory. Modi and Netanyahu held publicized meetings during the UN General Assembly in New York.
It is worth mentioning here that couple of days before Modi tweeted on his twitter account Hanukkah Greetings to Jews. Here are his well wishes for jews.
Wishing my Jewish friends a Happy Hanukkah! May this Festival of Lights and the festive season ring in peace, hope and well-being for all.
