FAISALABAD – A Russian citizen Akhlas Akhlaq has been executed in charge of attempting to assassinate former President Musharraf on Sunday night, PakistanTribe received reports from interior ministry.
Akhlas Akhlaq was executed in charge of attempting to assassinate General (Retd.) Musharraf. His execution was expected to be delayed until the arrival of his mother today but government has executed.
Vadim Zaitsev – a representative of the Russian Embassy in Pakistan – said that “The Pakistani authorities intend to execute him,” He added that “The death sentence could only be carried out after Akhlaq said his goodbyes to relatives.”
Akhlas’ father told that “A police inspector has informed me that my son will be hanged today in the morning. And they asked me to come immediately to Faisalabad to see him for the last time.”
Defending his son he said that “They took the wrong person,” adding that he said “There is no evidence that he wanted to assassinate the president whatsoever. He is also accused of speaking out against the current Pakistani government. But he was in Russia at the time they say he was doing this. And I have proved this. I sent money to him through the Foreign Ministry at that time.”
