LAHORE – Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has laid the foundation of Rs 470 million cost Command and Control System here on Friday. Chief Minister said that it would help control the crimes. He said that government would soon make legislation for the price control.
While addressing the ceremony after the inauguration of the Command and Control System, Shahbaz Sharif said that three thousand cameras will be placed at 700 areas of the city and the system will be operational within a year. The latest Command and Control System will help in controlling street crime, he added.
He further said that steps are being taken to further improve the performance of Punjab Police. He said that 3000 digital cameras would be installed and there would be digital monitoring of the city.
He said that phase-wise nine divisions of the province would be linked with the command and control center through satellite. He said that this center which would be on the model of London and Istanbul would play an important role for controlling the streets crimes.
He said that 83000 square foot land has been allocated for establishing the center and it would take the cost of 2 billion and the center would work for 24 hours.
He said that the issue of missing persons relates to federation and he cannot talk about the issue.. He said that Punjab government has planned a organized system for controlling the prices and there would be no compromise on the implementation of the law. He said that there would be no place for the political pressure in this regard.
Chief Minister said that he has suspended chairmen of the markets at several places. He said that where the price control system is improved, the administration and police of the area would be awarded with the certificates.
Speaking on the five year old girl rape case, he said that it was obvious that the Police have failed to apprehend the suspects behind the crime. He said that the accused would be arrested.
He said that they have to do a lot for improving the law and order situation and for ending the crimes. He said that, on the several occasions, the crimes are committed but the culprits are not traced, saying that the accused are ultimately arrested.
Officers of Punjab Police and Civil Beaurocracy officials were also present on the occasion.
