PESHAWAR: Pakistan Army completing the sweeping operation in Army Public School handed over the premises to the Army Public School administration. SSG commandos had completed their operation by sun down. We know who they are and who was giving instructions stated DG ISPR Major General Asim Bajwa.
The attack took a toll of 141 lives including 132 innocent children and 9 school staffers, whereas 121 children, 3 school staffers and 7 army personnel were injured during the operation Bajwa informed Bajwa during a press briefing in Peshawar.
Bajwa briefed that seven terrorists entered the school from a second entrance at the back of the school and into the auditorium, wearing suicide jackets. Quick response team had reached the spot within 10-15 minutes of the initial report. Army Chief General Raheel Shareef who was present in Peshawar who dispatched SSG commandos, he added.
Terrorists did not intend to hold anyone hostage and brutally opened fired in the auditorium. These senseless monsters who are not even human let alone Muslims, who martyred children trying to flee the attack at auditorium doors but quick SSG operation contained the damage expressed Pakistan Army spokesperson.
SSG commandos killed three terrorist through the windows and three others were killed during the sweep in the Administration block, whereas one terrorist was killed on the auditorium gate. He briefed that 960 out of the 1099 registered students were rescued along with school staff. Terrorist were not looking to hold anyone hostage as they never presented any demands and sought to take as much lives as they could, he added.
Maj Gen. Asim Bajwa informed the media that although we know the terrorists and their masters puppeteering them, further details cannot be disclosed at this point. Terrorist were fully prepared with ammunition and provisions for several days therefore further investigation would reveal their ulterior intentions and who provided them the necessary information. Pictures of these terrorist would be released to media later, he added.
Extending condolences to the families of the martyred students, DG ISPR deemed it the Blackest Day in the history of Pakistan. He called upon the citizens to play an active role against terrorism and inform authorities about any activity they have noticed. He said that citizens must also act responsibly in the united effort to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan.
