ISLAMABAD – Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) central leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmad says that Baluchistan is run by Corps Commander and Inspector General Frontier Corps (GIFC) rather than government.
Hafiz Hussain Ahmad said that Baluchistan government has no powers but real power lies with corp authorities. He was talking in conference organized in Islamabad by Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) titled ‘18th Amendment: Reforms and Fears’.
He highlighted the importance of real constitutional powers and said that discussion on 18 amendment will not be fruitful until the provinces are given their rights.
He criticized on ‘third umpire’ option and focused on supremacy of the Constitution.
Talking about rights of provinces he said that Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) would be satisfied even if they were given half of the rights enjoyed by Punjab but both these aforesaid provinces are not in focus of Federal Government.
He revealed that the government of Baluchistan had no writ but corps commander and Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) are real authorities here who enjoy power.
Talking about amendments in constitution and supremacy of law he regretted that the country was never governed under a true federal parliamentary system. He also criticized the judiciary for becoming the supportive for military regime.
He pointed out the constitutional privilege given to Baluchistan that according to constitution the province where the well-head of natural gas was located should have the first right over it. But Sui village and nearby areas in Baluchistan are still deprived of gas, he added.
