THARPARKAR – Famine in Thar continues to take lives of innocent children as two more children died on Sunday mounting the death toll to 191 in 74 days.
All of the four minor children were admitted at the Civil Hospital Mithi, where they breathedtheir last.
The Thar desert, straddling the Indian border and one of Pakistan’s poorest areas, has seen an alarming number of children suffering pneumonia or diarrhoea due to a dangerous mix of drought, poverty and poor health infrastructure.
The deaths have prompted criticism for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which governs in the southern province of Sindh where part of the desert is located.
Relief teams were not set up despite administration and Health Ministry’s tall claims that is causing a disease-spread.
