SAWAT – Sawat is jolted by earthquake tremors including surrounding areas, PakistanTribe learnt from media reports.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) an earthquake of four magnitude was recorded in Sawat and surrounding areas. The epicenter of the earthquake was Afghanistan Tajikistan border area.
Earlier to this in November an earthquake was recorded in Pakistan Afghanistan border area. The epicentre of the 5.2 magnitude earthquake was located in Afghanistan near the border with Pakistan and Tajikistan and at a depth of 232.4 kilometres, the US Geological Survey maintained.
The higher intensity areas were Mardan, Buner, Swabi and Malakand divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as compared to provincial capital Peshawar. Buildings were evacuated and people made their way to open spaces as fear and panic gripped the areas hit by the jolts.
