ISLAMABAD – Being active is an important part of any weight-loss or weight-maintenance program. When you’re active, your body uses more energy (calories). And when you burn more calories than you consume, you lose weight.
Losing weight the healthy way requires burning a fair amount of calories each week, in addition to reducing caloric intake. This poses a problem for many people because they feel they are too busy for long workouts. What they may not realize is that you do not have to exercise for long periods of time all at once you can split it up into several sessions a day and still burn the same amount of calories.

Walking up Stairs
If you were to climb stairs for 15 minutes, you’d burn approximately 137 calories. If you don’t have stairs at home or work, buy yourself a small stair step that you can use while watching TV. Swimming offers a non-impact way to burn a relatively high number of calories in a short amount of time. The number of calories you burn depends on a few factors, but you can get an idea of how many a typical session might burn. The calories that you burn during your swimming sessions will help you reach and maintain a healthy body weight, which in turn may reduce your health risks.
Playing Tennis for 14 minutes burn about 120 calories. Repetition of playing this game can burn huge number of calories overall.
The amount of calories a person uses during exercise is dependent on the intensity (speed in running) of the exercise and the individual’s body mass. The rule of thumb is that 16 minuteof running equals 100 calories burned.
