DUBAI – Pakistan team won the toss and elected to field first in the first of the five-match One-day International (ODI) series at Dubai International Stadium.

Misbah-led team had a three-hour practice session at the venue. Pakistan camp looked confident despite the shocking news of Hafeez being banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) from bowling for suspected bowling action.

With some reinforcements, the most significant of them was return of middle order Younus Khan and now Pakistan team holds slight advantage over Kiwis unlike the past, when they were beaten badly by the Aussies in the ODIs. In fact, Pakistan failed to play full quota of overs against them but now they have likes of Umar Gul, Irfan and Wahab Riaz to spearhead bowling department.

On the other hand, Kiwis will be boosted by the return of Corey Anderson and Martin Guptil. Kane Willamson looked quite confident and aiming to turn the tables on Pakistan. “We have already shared two trophies with Pakistan, and now we have set our sights on taking the ODI trophy home that will boost our morals before the mega world cup,” Williamson expressed these views while talking to the journalists.
