FAISALABAD – A woman leader of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) is being targeted with sexual assault and harassment, demonstrators and local media said as violence broke out in different parts of the Faisalabad.
The situation got worse after the killing of PTI worker Asghar Ali, 23-year in an incident of straight firing.
PTI workers and local media accused the police of “failing in their duty” to protect protesters from violence on Monday (Dec 8) morning, and said that woman leader of the party had been attacked.
Earlier a mayhem broke out at Novelty Pull Chowk when PTI and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) workers came face to face.
The slogans were traded from both sides as well as stone throwing also took place between both rival parties.
Police tried to disperse protestors by using water cannon and aerial firing but failed to maintain law and order in the city.
Sohail Tajik, Central Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad has said that police has identified the person who was involved in straight firing and law enforcers will arrest him shortly.
