ISLAMABAD – In an amazing move the Election Tribunal has declared angry leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Ghous Ali Shah the member of National Assembly from NA-215 Khairpur.

The move came on Saturday only days after Ghous Ali Shah, Liaquat Jatao, Zulfiqar Khusa and Mumtaz Bhutto met in Karachi to form a forward block in ruling party PML-N.

The Election Tribunal declared that Nawaz Ali Wassan of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is no more the representative of NA-2015 Khairpur.

At least one source from PPP considered that it was only a move by PML-N to make Ghous Ali Shah reconsider his anti-PML-N plans. One very active female leader and member of national assembly of PPP told PakistanTribe‘s correspondent on phone that “Nawaz Sharif will do anything to snub rebellion in his party.”

None of the PML-N leader or spokesperson responded on the news so far. Moreover, the legality of Ghous Ali Shah’s position in National Assembly will also be in question. After the 18th Constitutional Amendment any MNA who would vote against or oppose his party stance on policy issues will lose his membership.

Ghous Ali Shah had contested the election in May 2013 on PML-N’s ticket. However, in the twilight of elections he developed distances from PML-N leadership and finally resigned as the President of Sindh in August 2013.

It is also pertinent to mention here that PPP leader Nawab Ali Wassan had won the NA-215 seat while Syed Qaim Ali Shah (Chief Minister Sindh) secured the PS-29 seat of provincial assembly. Former president of the Sindh Chapter of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Ghous Ali Shah had challenged the results of these constituencies. He had expressed reservations over the voting pattern and subsequent counting of ballot papers.
