He said that the country is facing severe kind of energy crisis and government is taking all possible steps for overcoming it.
While addressing the inaugural session of Korea, South Asia Energy Forum on Wednesday, Abid Sher Ali asserted that the government is working on short-term and long-term power projects to completely eradicated load shedding by 2017.
Abid Sher Ali said that the government was focusing on optimum development of renewable sources of energy particularly hydel, coal, wind, solar and biomass. Pakistan can generate 60,000mw of electricity, adding that Islamabad would provide security and facilities if Korea would make investment in the energy sector.
He said government is starting energy park and hydel projects, adding that six localities have been selected for the installation of the nuclear power plants.
He said that the government is utilizing all available resources for overcoming energy crisis. Abid Sher Ali ensured protection of foreign investors in the sector of energy. He said according to the instructions of the prime minister the Neelum-Jhelum power project would be completed in 2015 and it would not be belayed. 24 Korean companies attending the South Asia Forum have been invited to make investment in the energy sector and 6660MW Gaddani Power Park Project.
