LAHORE – After parting ways in mainstream politics, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s students wings also engaged in a brawl at Punjab University Campus.

PakistanTribe learnt from ground sources that Insaf Students Federation (ISF) and Islami Jamiat-e-Talba (IJT) engaged in handy scuffle on Thursday within the campus.

Ground sources informed PakistanTribe that ISF members were holding a meeting to make some crucial decision about the 15 December Lahore blockade on the call of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

One ISF member – on condition of anonymity – said “IJT members feel threatened due to our growing popularity in their stronghold. ISF is the new attraction for thousands of students across Pakistan. So feeling threatened they attack us on a pity issue.”

IJT member, however, insisted that “Anyone find immoral activities on campus will be given same treatment regardless of their affiliation with any student organization.” When asked what immoral activities ISF members were conducting at Punjab University, IJT member informed PakistanTribe “Male and female students are not allowed to sit together.”

He also accused that at least four IJT members sustained injuries as ISF members attacked on them.

One student gives an insight about the incident stating:

Islami Jamaita-e-Talba (IJT) – had remained the largest and most controversial student organization of Pakistan. IJT enjoyed stronghold in country’s biggest universities including Punjab University, Karachi University and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). This student reportedly involved in brawls against other liberal student organizations and federations.

In a similar incident once IJT members dragged Imran Khan and get him arrested in Punjab University when he was trying to address a gathering organized by Insaf Student Federal (ISF) – student wing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf – in Punjab University Lahore.

Moreover, for the youth not enrolled in any universities, JI has it’s youth wing – Shabab-e-Milli – which is also considered the moral brigade. The excuse of such acts from the IJT and Shabab-e-Milli remained that persuading people to adopt Islamic life style is one of the duties of Islamic state, if state fails to do so then it shifts to them.
