KARACHI – The Chief of Pakistan Army General Raheel Sharif denounces the traditional governance system and state incapable of gaining trust of general public, PakistanTribe reported.

General Raheel Sharif made first public appearance on Thursday at Defence Exhibition after the thorough visit of US.

He said that general trend of public distrust on governance system would increase with individual voices of opposition becoming stronger unless traditional government and state adapt accordingly.

General Raheel also maintained that regionalism provide opportunities, however, there were as many threats as well. “We might end up fighting each other on scarce resources or helping each other to attain peace. The peaceful option, however, relies somewhere in the middle.”

He also addressed the global and regional security viz-a-viz what he termed as ‘forces of disorder’. He said that security of whole region is dependent on the resolution of Palestine and Kashmir issue.

However, he said, securing borders is not the only aspect of security but ‘phase of life’ and ‘culture’ also needs security. “No matter how weak or strong you are but your destiny depends on the policy of using state power,” he added.

He criticized the present international system and said “Conflict resolution mechanism today are unable to resolve the conflicts in present world. Forces of disorder are the challenge to global security. Exploitation of international system by some nations are unable to protect the global security. As a result the forces of disorder became stronger.”

In the end he also put an apt question “Can we start a war against a country whose economic policies do more harm to us than its war?” Then he explained that how every institute has to play its part in national security keeping in view the mechanisms of regionalism, economic interests and security paradigms.

Before the address, General Raheel visited the stalls displayed by national and international weapons manufacturers. He specifically took interests in the display of Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF)’s stall and products.
