WASHINGTON DC – Ashton Carter has been picked as a new leader of Pentagon – US military headquarter – by the US President Barack Obama, PakistanTribe learnt from international media reports.
Ashton Carter replaced Chuk Hegal as Defence Secretary and appointed by the US President Barak Obama. He was deputy secretary at the Department of Defense (DoD) US and now appointed to lead the Pentagon.
Hagel, former Defense Secretary, resigned under pressure last week after less than two years at the helm of the Defense Department.
Carter, 60, served for four years in senior Pentagon jobs and was the No. 2 official at the Pentagon from October 2011 to December 2013, he is fourth defense secretary of Obama. Carter has a big exposure of defence strategies previously, he was the Pentagon’s chief arms buyer, giving him deep knowledge of defense procurement and weapons policy and control over billions of dollars in spending.
Expectations from carter are high because america is in critical situation to fight with Russia, ISIS’ challenge, troubled ties with Syria and still stationed american troops in Afghanistan.
