JEHLUM – After the successful visit of US, the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif resumed the official activities in Pakistan with a visit to famous Tilla Range, PakistanTribe reported.
According to the spokesperson of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Raheel made the visit to Tilla Range in near Jehlum on Wednesday.
Army Chief witnessed the live field firing and also distributed the trophies among best army shots. The Army Chief appreciated the professionalism of Jawans. He said a new training program has been started to enhance firing skills of Jawans.
A number of new and innovative steps have been taken to enhance firing efficiency, including the establishment of an army marksmanship unit, which is a quantum leap towards improving firing standards of soldiers of the Pakistan Army.
“Yet another step is the conduct of firing competitions within the army on new format using latest techniques in consonance with constantly changing combat environment,” the statement added.
Further, a number of improvements in weapons and ammunition have also been introduced.
Appreciating the standard of marksmanship of participating firers from all over the army, the army chief said that training is a vital part of every soldier’s professional development.
“Highest standards of training and professionalism must remain our hallmark to accomplish the assigned mission,” the army chief emphasized.
Tilla Jogian is the highest peak in north-eastern Punjab. Due to its strategic location Pakistan Armed Forces have transformed the locality into many military installations. Tilla Satellite Launch Center is one of them. It is known as Tilla Range, is a (spaceport) 25 km west of Jhelum city in Punjab. The facility is also known as Mashhood Test Firing Range (MTFR). The spaceport has been used as a launch site for the Hypersonic Rocket Launch Vehicle Project(HRLV) and Ghauri ballistic missiles under development by the Khan Research Laboratories.
