ISLAMABAD – Only few hours before his political cousin’s big show, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)’s supremo Tahir ul Qadri left Imran Khan all alone to stand in front of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s government at D-Chowk.
PAT and its allies have formally refused on Saturday to participate in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s November 30 rally.
In an official communique media was informed that PAT and its ally political parties took the decision after a collective consensus.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapuri, leader of PAT said “PTI did not formally invite us. Moreover, no information on the objectives of the rally were provided beforehand.”
Not to forget that Tahir ul Qadri himself accepted being invited for November 30 Rally. PakistanTribe‘s reported on November 25 that during a press conference in Bhakkar Qadri accepted that PTI leadership had sent an invitation to join their November 30 rally at D-Chowk in Islamabad.
“PTI has sent a proper invitation. Shah Mehmood Qureshi had lead a delegation and met PAT’s leadership in this regard,” Qadri said.
However, on November 20, Qadri had also accepted that there were differences between PTI and PAT. “Leaders of both parties had been in contact even when I was abroad,” he maintained.
It is also pertinent to mention here that Qadri ended his sit-in from D-Chowk in October after which Chairman PTI Imran Khan expressed some concerns. At times, Imran Khan was found stating “PML-N must not think we would end sit-in like Qadri. He is gone but we will not go like this.”
PakistanTribe‘s correspondent was informed by PAT’s senior member that mainly there were two grievances of Tahir ul Qadri with Imran Khan.
“First, Imran Khan and PTI leaders never took us in confidence before starting rallies all over country. We were practically left alone to sustain the dharna. We did not had any aircraft to go city to city to organize such activities or we could have done that long ago. Our principal stance was that it originally dharna belonged to PAT but Imran Khan never bothered to take us in confidence over key policy shift.
“Second, Imran Khan did not come or contact Tahir ul Qadri for inquiring about his ailing health. He had the knowledge. The news was everywhere.
PAT leader also claimed that when Tahir ul Qadri had finally decided to end the Islamabad sit-in, Imran Khan personally requested him to just delay the matter for few more days. “He was straightforwardly told otherwise,” source added.
