ISLAMABAD – After receiving the jail term by Anti Terrorist Court (ATC) of Gilgit-Baltistan, a petitioner moved the Supreme Court of Pakistan to drag owner of Geo/Jang Group via International Police aka Interpol.
PakistanTribe‘s court correspondent reported on Friday that a petitioner filed a petition in the highest apex court to take action against Mir Shakeel ur Rehman.
One Mehmood Akhter Naqvi submitted a petition stating that ATC Gilgit-Balistan sentenced Mir Shakeel and others accused to 26 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.3 million but he mustered help and absconded. It was therefore demanded to bring him and other absconders back to the country.
He further suggested canceling Mir Shakeel’s license for the newspaper and channel. Federation, Secretary Information, Prime Minister, Mir Shakeel ur Rehman, Shaista Lodhi, Veena Malik and other were declared parties to the case.
Shakeelur Rehman on Wednesday fled the country after the ATC of Gilgit-Baltistan sentenced him to 26 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.3 million for broadcasting an alleged blasphemous programme.
According to sources, the Pakistan’s government agency helped Rehman flew to Dubai in the morning through Emirates Airline.
