DUBAI – Film actress Veena Malik said that incident of controversial Qawali was not blasphemy in any way and she and her husband Asad bashir Khattak did not have any control over the content that was aired.
Actress Veena Malik and her husband, Asad Bashir, along with Mir Shakeel ur Rehaman, have been sentenced to 26 years of imprisonment by an anti-terrorism court of Pakistan, on account of airing a blasphemous program on television.
Veena Malik, presently in Dubai, is “shocked” to say the least. She said, “It is shocking news for me. We did not have any control over any television content that was aired.”
Veena said that “We were just a part of the show, where our mock marriage was organised.” Later, footage was made out of it and circulated. And some 100 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered.
Veena, along with her husband will visit Pakistan in the first week of December to attend the hearings.
Meanwhile, their lawyers are handling the case. “I have been recovering from C-section and the doctors have asked me to rest for three months. So, we will be visiting Pakistan in December, once I am fit,” she concluded
