THAR – Amid futile efforts by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Government of Sindh to minimize death toll in deserted district two more infants ceased to live raising the total casualties to 120.
According to the correspondent reports on Wednesday, two more children died in Chhachhro area of drought hit Tharparkar district.
The death toll due to food shortage in the desert district of Thar has reached to 120 with the death of two more children including a 10 days infant girl.
The government of Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah faces scathing criticism from the opposition parties and public for its failure to ensure food supplies to Thar region and its alleged lethargy to tackle the drought situation in the arid district of Tharparkar.
Not to forget that only after three days when Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called off the show-cause notices issued to Chief Minister of Sindh and minister Manzoor Wasan, another innocent infant child withered due to famine in Mithi Hospital.
These deaths mounted the total casualties to 83 within 60 days. However, the irony is that only three days ago the Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Butto Zardari had called off the notices to CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and minister Manzoor Wasan. The reason to call off the notices was mentioned as ‘enough steps were taken to control the famine situation in Thar’. But 65 deaths only in last 42 days are telling altogether a different story.
