ISLAMABAD – Nawaz Sharif has accepted the resignation of his Federal Minister Zahid Hamid after being nominated a close acquaintance of former President General (rtd.) Pervez Musharraf for allegedly abolishing the constitution of Pakistan in 2007.
According to sources from Prime Minister House the resignation was accepted on Tuesday morning before the premier left for Nepal.
The Special Court issued a verdict in which it accepted the stance of Pervez Musharraf to include all his associates in the high treason trial framed by PML-N federal government. The court, in its verdict, directed to include three names for investigation including the name of Zahid Hamid. He was serving as the Law Minister at time of imposition of emergency on November 3, 2007.
Zahid Hamid had architect the infamous Protection of Pakistan Ordinance (PPO) even when his portfolio was that of Minister of Science and Technology.
Spokesperson of Prime Minister House did not acknowledge any such news.
