ISLAMABAD – The Federal Minister of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s cabinet Zahid Hamid has resigned from the portfolio after being haunted by his past as former President General (rtd.) Pervez Musharraf’s associate.
Televised reports suggested on Friday that Zahid Hamid tendered his resignation after being nominated in the verdict of High Treason Trial.
Earlier today the Special Court issued a verdict in which it accepted the stance of Pervez Musharraf to include all his associate in the high treason trial framed by PML-N federal government. The court, in its verdict, directed to include three names for investigation including the name of Zahid Hamid. He was serving as the Law Minister at time of imposition of emergency on November 3, 2007.
Zahid Hamid had architect the infamous Protection of Pakistan Ordinance (PPO) even when his portfolio was that of Minister of Science and Technology.
Spokesperson of Prime Minister House did not acknowledge any such news.
