SARGHODA – Due to deficient health facilities at District Headquarter Hospital in Sargodha, three more children passed away and death poll go up to 22 on Sunday.Health Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik had suspended Medical Superintendent Iqbal Sami for negligent medical treatment provided in the hospital. The charge was given to Sargodha Health Services Director Dr Najam.

The parents of the dead children have blamed the lack of doctors and negligence of the hospital staff for the death of children. They also blamed insufficient oxygen supply in the nursery ward for the deaths.

On November 9 after the death of eight children in Sargodha Hospital the medical superintendent of the hospital has constituted an inquiry team to look into the children deaths in the hospital.

But after it 7 more children died in children ward because of insufficient health facilities, however management of hospital denied the allegations and said that there was no shortage of oxygen in children ward.

A panel formed to probe the deaths has completed its investigation and has sent the report to Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.

Adviser to the chief minister had also visited the hospital and examined various wards including the nursery.

The hospital’s nursery ward is the only infant care facility in the whole Sargodha Division and children from Khushab, Bhakkar and Mianwali are also brought there for treatment. No private hospital in Sargodha offers nursery facility for the newborns.
