ISLAMABAD – The infamous secret fund for journalists has been put to an end by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government and instead establish a support fund with Rs 200 million.
The revelation was made by Federal Information Secretary Muhammad Azam while briefing the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information.
Headed by PML-N leader Marvi Memon, the committee was briefed that a hotline and crisis communication cell will be established in Press Information Department (PID) for journalists to address needs in emergency situations.
Secretary information also maintained that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is soon going to announce a media commission. Moreover, a summary to establish Rs 200 million support fund for deserving journalists and their families.
