ISLAMABAD – The former spy-master Masood Sharif Khattak has turned down the fact that Intelligence Bureau (IB) works under the directives of sitting Prime Minister or for the sitting government.
The former Director General of Intelligence Bureau (DG IB) Khattak was defending what he termed as the ‘prestigious institute’ of Pakistan in an interview.
He turned down the common misconception that IB works for the Prime Minister. “Those making such statements have no idea about the working environment. Whereas I have head this institute for years,” Khattak said while refuting the prevailing notion.
Imran Khan must realize that IB is a national institute and he would be assigning tasks to it if ever come in power, Khattak said further. “IB has given so much sacrifices for Pakistan that it cannot be counted. But unfortunately today people are demanding to include Military Intelligence (MI) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to probe certain cases keeping out IB. It is due to a huge misconception that IB works for Nawaz Sharif. This is so very wrong.”
While replying to the question about alleged Rs 2.7 billion for buying positive framing by media persons, Khattak said “Accusers must prove their claims in media. Even if IB has received an amount its not binding on it to give explanations on roads.”
