ISLAMABAD – Finally all illegal cellular connections in Pakistan have been blocked which would definitely make it easy for security institutes to trace back crimes and criminals.
The completion of a much awaited task was announced by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) – the governing body over all cellular networks in Pakistan. According to an official statement all new cellular connection are now being sold only through bio-metric system.
In an official statement issued by the authority’s spokesperson the new connections were now not allowed to be used without authentication. The statement also claimed that all previous connections which were either verified by their users or blocked permanently.
The statement read further “Bio-metric system is now functional all over the country. It was initiated in December 2013 from Balochistan and Karachi.”
Moreover, all previous connections which remained unused were also blocked.
The demand of blocking the illegal cellular connections has remained a top aspect of all major security agencies. The present Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General Rizwan Akhtar had repeatedly demanded to block the illegal connections during his previous appointment as head of Sindh Rangers.
