KARACHI – Former President General (rtd.) Pervez Musharraf’s life is again under serious threat as at least one intelligence report – sent to top security institutes – claims that a five-member outlawed Taliban group preparing for the suicide attack.
The secrete letter comprised on an intelligence report was dispatched to Corp Headquarters Karachi (Five Corp), Sindh Rangers, Inspector General of Sindh Police and home department of Sindh.
An insider – on condition of anonymity – from one the above departments commented on the content of said secret letter. According to this source “A five-member outlawed Taliban group is raising funds to carryout the suicide attack on Musharraf (sic). The leader of this splinter group has been identified as Usman Rashid. They are believed to target the convoy of former military strongman on his way to hospital. That is the only blind spot in Musharraf’s security.”
The content of the letter does not contain any details about the whereabouts of five-member splinter group.
Commander Usman Rashid of outlawed Taliban group is believed to be a relative of another dangerous militant commander Adnan Rashid. Adnan who escaped from the Bannu Jail last year remained the mastermind of many major attacks on sensitive installations including the attack on Army’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
On April 3, PakistanTribe reported that a bomb went off on the route of the convoy as Musharraf was being shifted from AFIC to his farm house .
Musharraf has been shifted from Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) to Chak Shahzad after three months. He was taaken to hospital on January 2 as he developed a cardiac problem enroute to appear before the special court hearing treason case against him.
One very close associate of former president – when contacted by PakistanTribe – maintained “Musharraf is not going to give in over these threats. He is standing where he should be. In fact he is standing many steps ahead where he should be.”
